A proposed development at Cape Coral’s Redfish Pointe was halted after the property owner withdrew an application to rezone about 100 acres of preserved land for mixed-use development. The 350-acre site, south of Rotary Park, is largely wetlands and mangroves that residents say provide critical flood protection. City officials confirmed the withdrawal but said no reason was given. The land could be targeted for permanent conservation through Lee County’s Conservation 20/20 program if funding becomes available, WINK News reports.
