Housing and Residence Life, along with Best Buddies UNF and Healthy Ospreys, are offering free gatherings this week, focusing on creativity and crafting, nutrition and personal wellness, and inclusivity.
The University of North Florida will host three events from Feb. 11 to Feb. 12 to celebrate Valentine’s week. The events will feature themed crafts, Valentine’s Day painting, and a healthy breakfast bar.
Valentine’s Day Make and Bake
Valentine’s Day Make and Bake is on Wednesday, Feb. 11, starting at 5 p.m. It will take place in Building 55, Osprey Fountains, in the game room on the third floor of the south tower.
Jack Lewis, the engagement assistant for Housing and Residence Life, will host the event. Valentine’s Day Make and Bake invites students to create air-dried clay keychains and put together jars filled with baking ingredients, according to UNF’s website.
Valentine’s Day painting
The University of North Florida will host a Valentine’s Day painting event organized by Best Buddies on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Union, Building 58, Room 3806.
Charlotte Nebbeling is the event organizer, and students can register through the Student Perch portal. This event encourages socialization and inclusivity, celebrating friendship and creativity.
According to the Student Perch portal, Best Buddies aims to create opportunities for volunteering, friendship, leadership development and family support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The UNF Best Buddies chapter advances this mission by hosting inclusive events for students. Participants can build meaningful friendships, develop organizational skills and gain experience in leadership roles such as officer, buddy director or committee member, according to
Love Week Breakfast Bar
Healthy Osprey will host the Love Week Breakfast Bar on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. in Building 61, Student Wellness Complex, Mind Body Studio.
This free event, led by wellness dietitian Alaina Waters, is open to students while supplies last. Attendees can select a base of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese and add fresh toppings according to the UNF events calendar.
The event supports the Healthy Osprey initiative, part of the UNF Recreation and Wellness Healthy Osprey Index, which promotes nutrition, education and overall student wellness.
