Parts of the suspect vehicle were found at the crash scene near Pettie Rd.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are searching for a driver they say hit and critically injured a pedestrian before fleeing the scene.

It happened Friday night along State Road 574 in the Dover area.

According to FHP, a 33-year-old pedestrian attempted to cross the intersection of SR-574 and Pettie Rd. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR-574.

The pedestrian entered the path of the vehicle and was struck. FHP says the driver fled the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Based on vehicle parts found at the crash scene, troopers believe the suspect vehicle to be a red in color 2017-2019 model Ford F250 or Ford F350.
