A driver accused of leading deputies on a chase from Southwest Miami-Dade to Doral on Sunday was arrested, authorities said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened just after 1 a.m. after deputies matched a vehicle that had a Be On the Lookout description in the area of Southwest 264th Street and 142nd Avenue.
Deputies said the vehicle tried to flee from deputies, and MDSO Aviation arrived at the scene to assist.
NBC6 cameras captured part of the chase.
The chase eventually ended on Florida’s Turnpike southbound near Northwest 41st Street, where the driver refused to leave the vehicle.
Deputy squad cars were seen lined up on the Turnpike.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody.
MDSO said the suspect had multiple warrants from the Broward Sheriff’s Office for armed carjacking and homicide.
The suspect’s identity and the charges he is facing for the chase were not released.
NBC6 has reached out to BSO for more information on those original charges the suspect is facing.
