Every year, Localtopia reminds me why raising kids in St. Pete feels so special. This isn’t just a festival. It’s our city showing up for itself with art, music, kindness, and creativity everywhere you turn. And the best part? Localtopia is genuinely kid-friendly, in a way that feels thoughtful, inclusive, and fun for the whole family. This year, Localtopia takes place on Saturday, February 14, from 10am–5pm.

If you’re planning to attend with kids, here’s how to make the most of your day—without being overwhelmed and with plenty of magic.

Why Localtopia Works So Well for Families

Localtopia is organized into walkable villages spread throughout Williams Park and the surrounding streets, making it easy to follow your kids’ energy and interests without feeling rushed. As a parent, I love that kids are encouraged to participate, not just watch. Local artists, nonprofits, and vendors welcome questions and curiosity, and there’s a balance of calm spaces and high-energy play.

Start Here: The Family Village

The Family Village is the heart of kid-friendly Localtopia programming. This area is packed with interactive experiences led by local organizations who specialize in creativity, education, and play.

A Special Valentine’s Day Experience with Indi-ED

At the Indi-ED booth, families can take part in a simple but powerful act of kindness:

Purchase a Valentine’s Day card created by Indi-ED students

Those students will then create and deliver a Valentine to a foster child or senior in St. Pete

It’s a meaningful way for kids to learn about giving back while supporting local education.

Bring sunscreen, hats, and refillable water bottles

A small blanket is helpful for reading breaks and rest time

Consider ear protection for younger kids near music stages

Don’t try to do everything—pick a few villages and enjoy them fully

From One St. Pete Parent to Another

Localtopia shows our kids what community looks like in action—artists sharing their work, neighbors supporting neighbors, and families creating something meaningful together. When your child points at a mural, a poem, or a painted bus weeks later and says, “We did that,” you’ll know the day was worth it.
