A Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department spokesperson says crews are responding to a fire at a recycling center near West Beaver Street and Acorn Street.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A massive cloud of smoke visible over Jacksonville is coming from a fire at a recycling facility, according to a Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department spokesperson.

Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the Smurfit Westrock facility located on West Beaver Street.

A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said it was on scene to assist the fire department.


The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. As of a call shortly after 4:30 p.m., the fire rescue spokesperson said no one had been transported from the scene due to injuries and there were no active evacuation orders.
