TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Head Start programs in the Tallahassee area are expected to be impacted by the ongoing government shutdown, according to the Capital Area Community Action Agency.
A letter from the agency shared to the Capital Area Community Action Head Start’s Facebook page Tuesday revealed that if Congress does not pass a federal budget by Friday, “Community Action Head Start will be forced to close temporarily until a budget is passed.”
“We understand how disruptive this uncertainty can be, and we are committed to keeping you informed every step of the day.”
The agency went on to say that the shutdown, which has been ongoing for over 20 days now, impacted the funding it receives from the Office of Head Start.
According to the Associated Press, the capital city’s Head Start program had been running on fumes since it stopped receiving federal funding at the start of the month, interim CEO Nina Singleton Self said.
