ONSLOW COUNTY, NC — A Jacksonville man is behind bars after police say an officer was injured during an arrest.
According to court records, 42-year-old Brandon Courtney Hendricks of Jacksonville was arrested by the Jacksonville Police Department on Monday, Feb. 9. He is charged with felony assault inflicting serious injury on a law enforcement officer, resisting a public officer, and intoxicated and disruptive.
Warrants allege Hendricks assaulted an officer by digging his fingernails into the officer’s hand, causing a physical injury.
Police also say Hendricks resisted arrest by pulling away and assaulting an officer during the encounter.
The incident reportedly happened outside a Walgreens on Western Boulevard, where investigators say Hendricks appeared intoxicated, begged for money, and way laying across a sidewalk, causing a disturbance.
Hendricks is being held at the Onslow County Detention Center without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 10
