Since 2020, the Sanibel Sea School has partnered with Road Scholar to bring immersive coastal education to adult learners from around the country. It is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, that provides educational travel programs.
Over the years, Sanibel Sea School educators have joined a variety of Road Scholar excursions, sharing Sanibel’s unique ecology through hands-on, curiosity-driven experiences. Last year, it was a featured part of the Road Scholar’s six-day program on the island, a trip designed to highlight the natural beauty and ecological richness of Southwest Florida.
Marine science educators meet participants at their hotel for a guided beach walk — an hour of exploration, discovery and connection to the coast. The final two walks were held on Dec. 3 and 10, welcoming 27 and 32 participants, respectively.
The Sanibel Sea School reported that it is thrilled to continue the partnership into 2026.
