A recent study from WalletHub listed Cape Coral as the second safest city in Florida, with Port Saint Lucie taking first place.
WalletHub’s 2025 study compared 182 cities across America, focusing on home and community safety, natural disaster risk, and financial safety.
Cape Coral residents shared their reactions to the news.
“I believe it. There is a very low crime rate around this, this area of Florida, and there’s a very strong police presence as well,” said Cape Coral resident Susan Rinella.
“When you come to Cape Coral, you feel like you’re in place. You know you’re just comfortable right away. That’s what I think is safe,” said Cindy Torrison, another resident.
Joe Kennedy, also a resident of Cape Coral, said, “Got a great Sheriff’s Department, great police department. You know, there’s just a good presence in the whole city. And I have no qualms walking the streets at night.”
“As a mom, it made me feel good about coming back, moving back after college and raising my son here. Do you agree that it’s safe? Yeah, I think for the for the most part, yeah, it’s very safe. I feel comfortable bringing my son to different parks all over town,” said Judy Rinella.
Even the younger residents had their say. “There’s a few crazy people…but not that many.. I like it here,” some kids added.
Cape Coral’s recognition as a safe city highlights the strong community presence and effective law enforcement efforts that contribute to residents’ sense of security.
