JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is rolling into Jacksonville.
The hot dog-shaped vehicle spans 27 feet, or 60 hot dogs long. It’s part of a tour with its drivers, called the ‘Hotdoggers.’
If you want to “ketchup” with the Wienermobile, you have two opportunities:
WHEN: Thursday, Feb 12 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.WHERE: 10000 Omni Dr., Jacksonville, FL
You can take pictures with the Wienermobile, tour the inside and take home your own Wienermobile whistle.
The idea of the Wienermobile dates back to 1936 when Carl Mayer, nephew of the company’s founder, came up with the original 13-foot metal hot dog on wheel to transport the company spokesperson. The vehicle has gone through several remodels and was even taken off the roads in 1977.
The Wienermobile was brought back in 1986 for a 50th birthday celebration.
Now, there is a fleet of six Wienermobile traveling across America driven by ‘Hotdoggers’ representing the brand. It has six red and yellow seats, inspired by mustard and ketchup. The carpeting represents the fixings like relish. The Wienermobile horn is melodic Oscar Mayer theme song.
