Port St. Lucie (CBS12 News) — Pitchers and catchers kicked off spring training this week at the Mets’ Port St. Lucie facility, but a couple of the team’s biggest new additions are already making an impression.
Jorge Polanco, the Mets’ new infielder from Seattle, arrived early and was getting comfortable on the field while showing off his skills in batting practice. Meanwhile, Bo Bichette, who came over from the Toronto Blue Jays, is using the early start to get to know his new teammates and surroundings — and he’s already hitting some massive home runs in the cages.
Both players arriving a week ahead of the rest of the roster gives them extra time to adjust and build chemistry, setting the stage for a promising start to the season.
