The Florida Association of Health Plans (FAHP) has named Brittney Hunt as its new CEO, effective Nov. 10.

FAHP, the statewide trade association representing commercial, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage health insurers and managed-care organizations, selected Hunt for her extensive experience in health care policy and government affairs, as well as her reputation as a respected leader throughout the state.

Hunt will work with the organization’s members to advance its mission of promoting access to high-quality, affordable health care for Floridians.

“It’s a privilege to be selected to lead FAHP and represent our members who are central to advancing the health and well-being of Floridians,” Hunt said. “Florida’s health plans play an integral role in driving affordability, expanding access to care, and improving health outcomes, and I look forward to working with our members, regulators, and policymakers to continue to advance those goals.”

Hunt most recently served as Vice President of external affairs for UnitedHealth Group, where she oversaw policy formulation, government relations and growth strategy across Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Before that, she served as policy director for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, where she was the organization’s leading advocate on health care, education, workforce and gaming policy.

Hunt started her career with the Florida Office of the Attorney General, working in the Bureau of Victim Compensation, and later represented a range of clients before the Legislature at Messer Caparello, P.A.

Hunt is a Tallahassee native. She earned her undergraduate degree in criminology and a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in Emergency Management from Florida State University. She continues to live with her husband, Chris, and two daughters in Tallahassee. The couple is expecting a third daughter.
