LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation plans to add more signage at U.S. Highway 27 and State Road 19, near Florida’s Turnpike, after a Lake County resident said more directional information was needed for drivers looking to turn right onto northbound SR-19.

FDOT agreed to add more signs to help drivers find the northbound connection
John Scorsese said he has missed the northbound turn onto SR-19 from US-27 more than once because of a lack of signs.
“Completely missed it three or four times,” Scorsese said. “If you’re not paying attention, you’re going to miss this exit.”
While there are signs directing drivers to turn north on SR-19, Scorsese said they’re too far back from the interchange.
“You’re going to shoot right past it because the sign isn’t where the actual exit is,” he said.
After reviewing the location, an FDOT spokesperson said the agency will add more signage to help drivers find the northbound connection.
“It would be a benefit for drivers whether you’re in the left-hand lane or the right-hand lane, and I think in terms of safety, it would benefit also,” Scorsese said.
