The Jacksonville Jaguars got off to a hot start to the season, but have lost their last two games. Now, the team sits at 4-3 after seven weeks, and have to find their groove again to get back in the mix. Fortunately, the November 4 trade deadline is approaching, and the Jaguars have the opportunity to improve their roster for the rest of the season.

There are a ton of trade candidates throughout the NFL, but one who makes a ton of sense for Jacksonville is Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku. The Jaguars and Cleveland have a good relationship, already making multiple trades this year. Jacksonville should get the Browns on the phone and get one more done.

Jaguars should explore a trade for Browns tight end David Njoku

Jacksonville’s top tight end, Brenton Strange, has been productive this season, catching 20 passes for 204 yards, but he has only played in five games, and is currently on injured reserve after suffering a quad injury. Strange is expected to return later in the season, but the Jaguars will benefit from having an adequate replacement, who can also play alongside Strange when he is healthy.

That’s where Njoku comes in at. The 2023 Pro Bowl tight end is currently playing on the last season of his contract with the Browns. Prior to missing Cleveland’s last game with a minor knee injury, he caught 23 passes for 223 yards and one touchdown in six games for the Browns. He has been a staple in Cleveland since 2017, but the team’s current leader in receptions and receiving yards is rookie tight end Harold Fannin.

The emergence of Fannin, and Njoku’s expiring contract, makes him an easy trade candidate for the Browns. The Jaguars should call them up and get a deal done, as Jacksonville tries to get back to winning.
