Florida State‘s series finale against James Madison has been cancelled due to “prolonged inclement weather in the area.” This comes just over an hour after the original 11 a.m. ET start time was delayed for the same reason.

The cancellation of the matchup secures the season-opening sweep after winning the first two matchups against the Dukes. The Seminoles opened the season with a 5-1 win on Friday before Saturday’s 16-5 series-clinching victory.

During the season opener on Friday, FSU took control quickly. Myles Bailey homered deep to right field in the bottom of the first before Brody DeLamielleure went yard with a solo shot to center field in the second.

The 2-0 lead held until the sixth when JMU was able to score from third on a wild pitch. That was the only run James Madison was able to score on the Seminoles Friday. FSU scored three insurance runs in the eighth after a balk with the bases loaded. Noah Sheffield singled up the middle for two RBIs to finish the game strong.

On Saturday, the Seminoles scored early and often en route to a 16-5 victory. Florida State opened strong once again after two runs scored in the first inning. JMU took the lead after a three-run top of the second, but FSU responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead, 6-3.

Florida State never looked back from there. Between the fourth and sixth inning, the Seminoles ran up the score with 10 runs. With the run rule in effect, the game ended after the top of the seventh inning.

FSU will make their way back onto the diamond against Jacksonville in their next matchup on Tuesday. After that will be the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series that features matchups against Michigan, Auburn and Nebraska, among others.
