Is there anything cuter than a puppy? How about a firehouse puppy? If you ask Gulfport firefighters, the answer is no!
But they need your help to find a furry friend for the station.
Gulfport’s New Firehouse Puppy
Make 3 Cares is launching a community fundraising campaign to welcome a new four-legged member to the Station 17 family. The new firehouse puppy will live permanently at Gulfport’s fire station.
When the future puppy isn’t getting spoiled by firefighters, the pup will play an important role in community outreach.
Firehouse dogs, often an iconic Dalmatian, have long been a symbol of service and resilience. The Gulfport Fire Rescue’s press release said firehouse dogs help “bridge connections between fire departments and the communities they serve.”
“Firefighting is demanding, both physically and emotionally,” said Gulfport Fire Rescue Chief Rene Fernandez, in a press release. “Having a dog at the station will bring comfort to our firefighters, provide stress relief, and help us connect with residents — especially children — when we visit schools and community events.”
Donations
Make 3 Cares Inc, a non-profit organization depends on donations to cover the costs of adopting, training, and caring for the puppy. The care includes food, veterinary care, and other essentials.
“With your help, we can give this puppy a loving home at the firehouse while giving our firefighters a loyal companion for years to come. We’re thrilled to start this tradition here in Gulfport.” said Chief Fernandez.
