TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Work on the Market District project in Tallahassee is still underway and work on Maclay Boulevard could be complete sooner than originally expected.
According to the City of Tallahassee, construction on Maclay Blvd has moved to its next step, with work now taking place between Maclay Commerce Drive and Mosswood Chase.
All roads except Maclay Blvd from Maclay Commerce Drive to Mosswood Chase will remain open.
The City said after receiving feedback from area business owners about how construction has impacted them, they have developed a revised strategy, including “a revised sequencing plan to expedite completion of Maclay Boulevard.”
This includes the central roundabout at Maclay Commerce Drive.
Now, Maclay Boulevard is expected to open in late summer 2026, according to the city. The overall project remains on track for completion by the end of 2026.
The City also shared updates on recent progress which includes, completion of the decorative retaining wall along the stormwater pond and relocation of communications lines.
This month, the City says columns for the future pedestrian bridge, storm drain and curb work on the northern side of Maclay Blvd and road milling work on Financial Plaza Drive will be underway.
The overall project area is approximately 30 acres and aims to provide spaces for family-friendly activities, create walking trails and beautify the area, according to the City.
