Florida Highway Patrol says the driver hit and killed a bicyclist in Hudson, left, then returned to the scene.

HUDSON, Fla. — A 52-year-old Tampa woman riding a bicycle was killed after a Tesla driver hit her and drove away, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 9:03 p.m. on Parkwood Street near Bert Street in the Parkwood Acres area of Hudson.

FHP says the 24-year-old driver of a Tesla Model Y was traveling south when he overtook and struck the woman on her bicycle. 

According to troopers, Logan Pineda initially drove off but later returned and identified himself as the driver.

Troopers arrested him on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
