Weekend Digest Tampa February 21 & 22

Your weekend is here, Tampa Bay! Here’s a look at the news and what events are going on in the area.

The weekend will start with the same warm weather we have now, but a cold front will pass through on Sunday.

Friday night will start the weekend on a nice note with mostly clear skies and mild lows in the 60s.

Saturday will be mostly sunny and warm with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Saturday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the 60s.

Sunday will be windy with a few showers passing in the first half of the day. Highs will be in the low 70s early, then start to cool down in the afternoon.

Beach and boating

The best beach day this weekend is definitely Saturday, as it will be warm with a nice southerly breeze. Sunday will turn windy and cooler.

Boating conditions will be good for Saturday with winds from the south at 10 knots. You might have to deal with some sea fog though.

Sunday will be a bad boating day as winds will turn very gusty from the northwest at about 20 to 30 knots.

PINELLAS

Busch Gardens Tampa Mardi Gras | Saturday and Sunday, 12 p.m.: Get jazzed up with Mardi Gras-style entertainment, live music and catch some festival beads after each parade. Feast like kings and queens on new classic Cajun cuisine as Busch Gardens brings the Big Easy to Tampa Bay. Entry is included with park admission.

14th Annual Planes, Trains & Automobiles | Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. | $8.50 – $12: Featured highlights will be numerous aircrafts on display, a car show, and operating model train layouts. First responder vehicles and personnel along with train safety vehicles and equipment will also be in the lineup.

Bonsai & Brews | Sunday, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Learn the basics of bonsai from expert instructors at Thunderstruck Bonsai, who will guide you through the process of potting, shaping, and pruning your own miniature tree.
