After winning the opening tip, Florida’s first offensive possession was salvaged by a Thomas Haugh 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down.

Then, as Ole Miss was holding its own with a 10-7 advantage five minutes into the game, Alex Condon tied the contest with a 3-pointer, his third of conference play, which fueled the Gators to a 12-2 run over the next five minutes.

Setting the tone early, Florida, who came into the game shooting an SEC worst 29.4% from beyond the arc, finished the contest 50% from 3-point-range, marking its best shooting performance from deep this season. 

Fueled by its 3-point shooting, No. 12 Florida (21-6, 12-2 SEC) took down Ole Miss (11-16, 3-11 SEC) 94-75. The Gators grabbed their first win in Oxford since 2016 and sixth-straight road win this season. 

Condon led Florida’s scoring effort with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting.

At the half, he led the Gators with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. His dunk on Ole Miss’ Malik Dia gave Florida a 22-14 lead with 10 minutes before the half, capping off a 12-2 run for UF. The Aussie recorded nine points on 4-of-6 shooting in the second half, including five-straight points to open to put UF up 13 with 16:32 to go.

Haugh followed in pursuit with 20 points and nine rebounds. He is a point shy of becoming the 59th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. 

At the end of the first half, the junior forward recorded 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including two 3-pointers. His second make from beyond the arc put the Gators up 11 with 6:11 before halftime. He tacked on six more points in the second half, which he capped off with a fastbreak dunk to give the Gators a 91-70 advantage with 3:14 to go.

Off the bench, Urban Klavžar was consistent from beyond the arc, logging 15 points on 4-for-5 shooting from 3, marking his seventh double-digit scoring outing in the last nine outings. 

At the break he recorded six points, all coming from 3, including his second 3-pointer that put the Gators ahead 36-24 with 4:32 before the half. Klavžar’s fourth and last 3-pointer gave UF a 68-51 lead with 10:18 to go.

Moreover, Boogie Fland, who came into the game shooting 17.9% from beyond the arc, found his rhythm from 3-point range. 

The sophomore guard finished the contest with 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from long range, marking the second time during conference play where he’s posted three 3-pointers in a game. He recorded back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Gators an 89-67 advantage with 4:03 left in the contest.

Xaivian Lee rounded out Florida’s double-digit scoring efforts with 11 points and a team-leading 10 assists, logging his first double-double of the season. However, Lee also finished the game with a team-high four turnovers, something that hurt the Gators throughout the contest. 

The Gators finished the game losing the turnover battle 19-11, leading to 24-13 advantage in points off turnovers for the Rebels.

For Ole Miss, the aforementioned Dia was an issue for the Gators, logging his third-straight 20-plus point performance with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting  He finished the first half with 11 points, including four points to start the game for the Rebels. 

Besides Dia, Florida’s defense, which entered the contest second in the SEC allowing 71.1 points per game, was dominant again.

At the break, the Rebels were 1 for 7 (14%) from beyond the arc. They finished the game 2 for 16 (13%) from 3-point range.

Moreover, starter James Scott was held to two points on 1-of-3 shooting from the field. 

Next, Florida will look to extend its road win streak to seven games against Texas (17-9, 8-5 SEC) in Austin on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
