Orlando police arrested a suspect for a fatal North Orange Avenue shooting.
On February 22, 2026 at approximately 2:31am, Orlando Police Department officers responded to the 1900 block of North Orange Avenue in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Julien Emmanuel Cruz, was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The OPD investigation revealed that the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal and physical altercation on the sidewalk prior to the shooting. During the dispute, the suspect retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot the victim, according to local law enforcement.
OPD said the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle, which was later located by patrol units at the 200 block of East New Hampshire Avenue.
Jean Gabriel Borja Gil De La Madr was later arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder with a Firearm.
The Orlando Police Department said this marks the third homicide of 2026.
This remains an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
