As a historic blizzard hits areas on the East Coast, down in South Florida, cancellations and delays are being seen at airports on Monday.

At Miami International Airport, officials said they’re monitoring weather conditions and working with airline partners to decrease disruptions in air travel.

At MIA, there have been 139 cancellations and 18 delays, while at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, there have been 191 cancellations and 25 delays.

Roughly 41 million people are under blizzard warnings from Maryland to Maine as the powerful winter storm threatens to bring 2 feet of snow and strong winds to part of the region.

Flight cancellations and delays began to trickle in on Sunday morning.

Over 3,000 flights traveling into, within and from the U.S. have been canceled, and 3,200 have been delayed, according to Flightaware.com.

NBC6 spoke to travelers who are being impacted by the blizzard.

“A couple of days ago, people started talking about the weather changing. Just looking at the weather today, the blizzard warning is what’s concerning us,” said a traveler.

These flight impacts come as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that they suspended the Global Entry airport security program amid the department’s funding lapse.

It’s unclear when that suspension will end.
