After more than a year, a man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and beating her in Miami was arrested on Saturday, authorities said.

Ronny Bacallao, 41, was charged with strong-armed robbery, kidnapping, and battery.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, on Jan. 7, 2025, officers arrived at Northwest 35th Court and 104th Street after receiving reports of a kidnapping and strong-armed robbery.

An arrest report said that detectives met with the victim, who told them she was driving down the street when Bacallao blocked her with his car.

The victim said that he left his car, walked towards her car, opened the driver’s side door and started battering her, the report said.

After beating her, the report said, Bacallao pulled the victim out of her vehicle and dragged her into his. He then walked back to the victim’s vehicle and moved it out of the roadway.

Inside his car, Bacallao noticed that the victim was holding her cellphone and car keys, and he took her cellphone and put it in a cupholder, the report said. When the victim tried to grab her cellphone, Bacallao started punching her, took her phone out of her hand and threw it and her keys outside the window.

As Bacallao continued to drive, the report said, the victim told detectives that they had agreed that she would be dropped off at her friend’s house.

On the way to her friend’s house, Bacallao continued to batter her on her face and head, the report said.

When she got to her friend’s house, her friend drove her back to the scene where she was taken and then called the authorities, the report said.

Bacallao was then found by deputies, and he was taken into custody.
