Miami Christian extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-3. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie. For those keeping track at home, that’s the closest victory the Victors have posted since April 9, 2025.
Moises Lezama tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luis Mijares, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That’s the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Polanco, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.
As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only four runs.
On Hialeah Educational Academy’s side, they got a good showing from Richard Guerrero, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.
At the plate, Jose Aviles was cooking despite his team’s loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Joshua Ortiz, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
Looking ahead, Miami Christian will be playing at home against Dade Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give the Victors their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Southridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans’ pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Biggie’s hitters will have their work cut out for them.
