JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At Jacksonville Golf & Country Club, competing in the UNF Collegiate against some of the top teams in the nation, the Jacksonville Dolphins women’s golf team finished 12th in the field.
The group carded a two-day score of +100, just six strokes shy of fellow ASUN member EKU in 11th place. ASUN foes UNF and FGCU finished ninth and second respectively.
Through three rounds, senior Erin Marcelino led the Dolphins with a +11 finish. She carded total rounds of +4, +6 and +1. Her first day of play saw her snag four birdies in the opening round and three the following. She finished her tournament experience with three birdies on the final day, including two in the final four holes.
Marcelino finished T-15, the fourth highest finish by an ASUN golfer in the field.
Outside of Marcelino, Hannah Lowery carded a +25 tournament, finishing 61st. Issy Hopkins carded a +28 for 70th place. Alexis Rieli finished 78th with a +36 overall two-day span. As an individual, fellow senior Kit Schaefer finished 80th with a +60-tournament score. Schaefer finished her tournament with five total birdies.
Jacksonville’s run in the UNF Collegiate is its last in the state of Florida, traveling to Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina twice to round out the season. The program will be back in action March 8-10 at the Chris banister Golf Classic hosted by Jacksonville State at the Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe, Ala.
