The Krampen-Hoffman ticket has won the student government election, with Robert Krampen and Abe Hoffman becoming the new student body president and vice president, respectively.
“This is something we’ve been working towards for weeks, working so hard because our opponents put up such a good fight,” said Krampen.
The primary responsibility of the president and vice president of student government is to serve as an ambassador for the interests of the student body and to communicate them to FGCU leadership. They will succeed Gianna Ihuoma and Giovanna DeMarco, who have sat as president and vice president for the past year and take office April 1.
844 students voted in the election, with 505 voting for the Krampen-Hoffman ticket.

The voting follows a debate on Monday, Feb. 23, where both tickets laid out their policies and took questions from the audience of students.
One of the biggest issues the Krampen-Hoffman ticket wants to tackle is university bureaucracy.
“The biggest problem in student government right now is university bureaucracy. Things are very slow, and that’s why I have a contract drafted up already…becoming student body president would make this a lot easier,” Krampen said during the Monday debate.
