Tarpon Springs firefighters rescued a 73-year-old man and his dog from a mobile home fire Thursday night.

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — Tarpon Springs firefighters rescued a 73-year-old man and his dog from a burning mobile home Thursday night. 

The fire broke out around 9:35 p.m. on River Village Drive.

A caller reported that someone was trapped inside. Once on scene, firefighters were able to get the man out.

Paramedics transported him to Tampa General Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Firefighters also found a dog in a bedroom of the home. The dog was rescued and taken to an emergency veterinary clinic.


Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue says the fire was contained to the kitchen.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
