MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. – It was inevitable — first the Louvre, now a Treasure Coast mall.
Martin County deputies shared photos Wednesday via social media showing what they call an elaborate rooftop heist at Treasure Coast Square perpetrated by sky-high sneaker thieves.
“Not quite the Crown Jewels — but it’s clear these sneaker thieves put the same time and effort into their crime,” the post states. “Now it’s our detectives’ turn to track them down.”

The thieves cut their way through the mall’s concrete roof and dropped into a Champs Sports, where they stole hundreds of pairs of Nike shoes, according to the post.
“The stolen merchandise was bagged, tagged, thrown off the roof, and loaded into a getaway vehicle,” deputies said. “As you can see some of the goods got hastily left behind.”

Anyone with information or who may have noticed anything suspicious in or around the mall between midnight and 8 a.m. Tuesday morning is asked to call the Martin County Sheriff’s Office at 772-220-7060 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-8477.
