Bolles, Bishop Kenny, Bartram Trail, San Jose Prep and NFEI all won on Friday night to secure a state semifinal berth.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Five area high school girls basketball teams punched their ticket to the Final Four on Friday night.
In Class 6A, Bartram Trail came back to beat Tocoi Creek 49-46 to advance to their first state semifinal since 2019. Miranda Campos scored the game winner with less than two minutes to go and the Bears defense took care of the rest.
“We prepared for this, late game scenarios,” Bartram Trail girls basketball head coach Kirsten Clement said. “We know Tocoi is a talented team, so we were just preparing ourselves to be in every situation and they went out and executed.”
In Class 5A, the playoff run ended for Ponte Vedra. They fell 51-40 to top seed Pensacola Washington.
In Class 4A, Bishop Kenny held on to beat Fort Walton Beach 54-53 to secure a Final Four berth. Thanks to 21 first half points from Kathleen Crawley, BK were up 16 at the half, but the Vikings came back to take it down to the wire.
In Class 3A, Bolles picked up their 20th straight win and secured a second-straight trip to the state semis after a 68-34 romp of Newberry. Bulldogs senior Leilla Goll dropped 20 in what will be her last game at her home gym.
“She’s been a captain since her sophomore year, and it just shows how hard she works every day running the floor right there, getting those easy layups,” Bolles girls basketball head coach Kelly Stevenson said. “She’s the hustle player and the glue to our team. We just have the full package. I’m just so proud of them, all 12 of them work hard every day and I think we can do it.”Â
In Class 2A, San Jose Prep defeated top seeded Providence 60-51.
In Class 1A, NFEI edged L.E.A.D Academy 62-59 in overtime on the road.
All State Semifinal and Championship games will be played at UNF Arena starting next week, meaning five local teams have the chance to win it all in Jacksonville.
