DELAND, Fla. – Jacksonville University beach volleyball closed out the Stetson Spring Fling in dominant fashion Saturday, sweeping day two with wins over College of Charleston (4-1) and Mercer (3-2) at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex.

With the pair of victories, the Dolphins secured three wins in a row to wrap up the weekend.

JACKSONVILLE 4, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 1

Jacksonville opened the day with a 4-1 win over College of Charleston, taking four of five courts in convincing fashion.

Claire Mrukowski and Megan Hair set the tone at No. 1 with a 21-19, 21-16 straight-set victory over Cassie Thayse and Elizabeth Curry.

Jamie Seward and Hayden Garnett followed with a 21-18, 21-15 win at No. 2, while Avery Kleithermes and Morgan Perry earned a gritty 21-17, 21-18 decision at No. 4.

Kye Swink and Maddie Fielder sealed the dual at No. 5, fending off a late push for a 21-15, 23-21 victory.

JACKSONVILLE 3, MERCER 2

The Dolphins capped the weekend with a tight 3-2 win over Mercer.

Mrukowski and Hair once again delivered at No. 1, defeating Jordyn Thomas-Warren and Hollis Engel, 21-13, 21-12.

At No. 3, Avery Kleithermes and Meredith Mrukowski controlled their match from start to finish, earning a 21-11, 21-7 victory.

The clincher came at No. 5, where Morgan Perry and Kate Taylor battled back after dropping the opening set to win 18-21, 21-17, 15-11 and secure the dual for Jacksonville.

Jacksonville returns to action next weekend at the UNF Invitational beginning Friday, March 6.
