Veterans home receives 14 emergency generators from local contractor

TAMPA — Liberty Manor for Veterans, a nonprofit that provides transitional housing for homeless veterans, received 14 emergency generators courtesy of a Land O’ Lakes construction company.

Sean Franklin, president of St. Paul’s Construction and Roofing Inc., donated the generators to ensure residents have power during emergencies.

Liberty Manor, a 501(c)(3) organization based in Tampa, serves disabled and honorably discharged veterans who have experienced homelessness, providing supported housing and programs designed to help them achieve self-sufficiency.

Free Medicare counseling sessions set for March at area libraries

Trained volunteers with SHINE, a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, will hold Medicare informational sessions at libraries in Pasco and Pinellas counties throughout March.

SHINE, which stands for Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders, provides free, unbiased and confidential one-on-one counseling on Medicare, Medicaid and health insurance questions. SHINE counselors do not sell insurance products.
