For one day only, UCF students and Central Floridians planning international travel can apply for or renew passports right on campus.

District 10 Rep. Maxwell Frost announced Friday he is partnering with the U.S. Department of State to host Pop-Up Passport Day on March 12 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Live Oak Center at UCF.

Routine passport processing currently takes four to six weeks once an application reaches a passport processing center, but that estimate by the U.S. Department of State does not include the time it takes for the application to arrive at the center or for the completed passport to be mailed back.

On its official website, the department states, “It may take two weeks for your application to get to us, and two weeks for you to get your passport after we mail it,” potentially adding four weeks to the routine processing time provided.

The annual event guides residents of District 10, which includes the UCF area, through the passport application process while bypassing part of the routine waiting period, bringing them one step closer to finalizing their international plans.

Since being sworn into office Jan. 3, 2023, Frost has been a vocal advocate for improving access to passport services for his constituents.

In his first year, he pushed the U.S. Department of State to expand weekend appointment availability at the Miami Passport Agency, providing Central Floridians traveling from across the state more time to make it to their appointments.

Frost continued advocating for a long-term solution, ultimately securing the creation of a new Orlando passport office in 2024 to bring permanent in-person services closer to home.

This year marks the second consecutive time the event will be held at the Live Oak Center at UCF. In 2024, Frost hosted passport events at the Packing District YMCA and the Orange County Clerk of Courts Winter Park branch.

Community members interested in applying for or renewing a passport at the event must schedule an appointment in advance on Frost’s website

The process requires completing the appropriate passport application form, providing proof of U.S. citizenship, submitting a recent passport photo, presenting a valid photo ID and paying the required fees.
