TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee residents are scrambling to move out of an apartment complex after being told just days ago they had to be out by March 2 because of safety concerns.
Last week, residents at Terra Lake Heights Apartments were notified that they had to pack up and move out after city crews found problems, including with the fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
The Tallahassee Fire Department told WCTV that after inspections, they found safety issues in all four buildings.
According to TFD, the property managers did not address those concerns.
More Tallahassee news:
Monday, people were loading up U-Hauls at Terra Lake Heights Apartments.
People like Angela Ambers are trying to figure out where to go next. She said she has six children, nowhere to go and no money for a U-Haul.
“As a parents, I’m covering up a lot of emotions, but showing my kids we’re strong and we got this,” Ambers said. “But, deep down, inside I want to break down and cry. A lot of people have a village to help them, and it’s people like me that don’t have a village, and I have to stay strong for my kids and keep my head up to keep moving.”
An employee in the leasing office told WCTV the fire department and sheriff’s department would be at the property at 5 p.m. to make sure everyone is out.
WCTV has reached out to the property management group, Tarantino Properties out of Houston, for comment, but has not heard back.
