TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Part of Jefferson Street in Tallahassee has been renamed to honor former Leon County Clerk of Court Dave Lang, who served more than 40 years.
Dave Lang Street runs alongside the Leon County Courthouse between Monroe and Calhoun streets. Dozens of people came out for Monday morning’s unveiling.
“It’s wonderful,” Dave Lang said. In February, city commissioners unanimously passed a vote in support of the street renaming. “To me, it could not be better. Today puts the cherry on top,” Lang said.

Lang was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and his son, Chuck, said he is thankful to see this recognition while his father is still alive.
“He’s still 1,000 times sharper than I am; he just doesn’t have much energy now,” Chuck said. “So, to time that now before he’s gone, while we still have him, was just a blessing on top of a blessing.”
In addition to the street renaming, Mayor John Dailey presented Lang with a key to the city.
