TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A local hero received statewide recognition on Monday.
Leon County volunteer firefighter Karl Hook was named Florida’s Volunteer Firefighter of the Year.
Chief Hook has served the community for more than thirty years as both a first responder and an EMT.
He currently serves with both the Bradfordville and Chaires-Capitola departments.
“We do not become volunteer firefighters for the accolades, but to serve our neighbors in their time of need,” Hook said. “However, it is an honor to be awarded Volunteer Firefighter of the Year for the state of Florida, to recognize all the volunteers firefighters in the state of Florida.”
