STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State Bulldogs begin postseason play in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday, as they will look to avenge regular season loss against the Florida Gators. Tipoff for the contest is set for 12:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

Madison Francis was recognized by the Southeastern Conference as a member of the All-Freshman and All-Defensive teams.
Francis becomes the first freshman to be named to the All-Defensive Team since the 2019-20 season.
Francis currently leads the nation with 84 total blocks and secured the program’s single-season freshman block record with four in the regular season finale against LSU.
Mississippi State is currently listed as the last team in the NCAA Tournament according to ESPN bracketologist Charie Creme.
The Bulldogs hold a NET ranking of 39 entering Wednesday’s contest against the Gators.
The Bulldogs have seven players averaging 8 or more points per game, making them one of three teams in the nation to have seven or more players to do such, joining LSU (8) and Texas (7).
Trayanna Crisp leads the team with a 37.4 three-point percentage. She has knocked down three or more in eight games this year, and the Bulldogs are 6-2 when dshe does so.
Favour Nwaedozi is one of five players in the SEC to average a double-double with 12.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
Nwaedozi has recorded 14 double-doubles this season, the most by a single Bulldog since Teaira McCowan’s 31 during the 2018-19 season.
Kharyssa Richardson is averaging 11.6 against conference foes, the second-most of any Bulldog in that period.  

 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT


Florida’s offense is led by their big three of Liv McGill (22.3), Me’Arah O’Neal (13.4) and Laila Reynolds (12.4).
McGill ranks second in the conference in scoring and eighth in the nation.
McGill also ranks fourth in the SEC in assists with 6.2 per game.
The Gators thrive in getting to the line, as they attempt the third most free throws in the SEC (21.1) and make the fourth most in the conference (14.7).

 
SERIES HISTORY:


Florida leads the all-time series 29-28.
The Gators are currently on a three-game winning streak in the series after winning the regular season contest in Starkville, 71-56.
The two teams have only faced off in the SEC Tournament five times and will be facing off for the first time since 2014. Florida is 4-1 in SEC Tournament games against the Bulldogs.
Across the last 10 meetings, State leads 6-4.
