TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – A pilot was able to walk away from an emergency landing on a Tampa street Tuesday night, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies say a pilot experienced mechanical issues with a Cessna 152 at about 10:30 p.m.
Deputies received a call from the Tampa International Airport Police Department alerting them that a plane was attempting an emergency landing on Weaver Lane.

While trying to land, the aircraft struck a power line and a tree before landing near Weaver Lane and Rockhill Road.
Despite substantial damage to the aircraft, the pilot was not injured.
The plane is registered to Training Planes LLC of Tampa, FAA records show.
