The Lee County Clerk & Comptroller will host The Big Shred from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 8 at the John E. Manning Government Complex, 1039 SE Ninth Place in Cape Coral. The free event allows residents to securely dispose of confidential documents to help prevent identity theft. During the last Cape Coral event, more than 5,500 pounds of documents were shredded. Since The Big Shred began in 2023, more than 25,200 pounds of records have been securely destroyed at events held across Lee County. Participants can drive up and hand off boxed documents to clerk team members for on-site shredding. No plastic bags or electronics will be accepted.
