OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (CBS12) — An armed person was taken to the hospital after a deputy-involved shooting in Broward County on Thursday, prompting an extensive investigation.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said the deputy-involved shooting unfolded Thursday morning in an Oakland Park neighborhood.
According to BSO, the incident began shortly after 7 a.m., when Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a possible suspicious person near Northeast 35th Court and Northeast Fifth Avenue. Deputies responded to the area and encountered an armed individual. During the interaction, a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The shooting took place in the 300 block of Northeast 33rd Street, BSO said. Public Information Officer Miranda Grossman is currently gathering additional details.

Oakland Park Fire Rescue transported one injured person to a local hospital, according to our news partners at CBS Miami. The armed individual’s condition has not been released.
