DUBAI – A Fort Myers couple is caught in the middle of Operation Epic Fury, a military effort led by Central Command to dismantle the Iranian regime.
Alexander Irigoyen and his wife are currently in Dubai, waiting for a safe opportunity to return home.
Irigoyen shared that he recently spoke with the Department of Homeland Security, which offered them a flight from Abu Dhabi to Dallas if they can reach the airport.
He expressed the challenges of navigating a war zone, saying, “Abu Dhabi is not around the corner. How do I get from here to Abu Dhabi? I mean, I’m in the war zone.”
As missiles began to fly, their trip was unexpectedly extended, leaving them to seek shelter when alerts hit their phones.
Despite the situation, Irigoyen said, “Here in Dubai, very few of those strikes happen here. Very, very few, I guess. And so from that point of view, I still feel pretty safe.”
Though airspace is open, it remains heavily restricted, making their journey home uncertain.
