LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A mother manatee and her calf rescued near the Orange River are being rehabilitated at SeaWorld Orlando.

SeaWorld’s veterinary team treated the mother for a buoyancy issue after she was spotted swimming sideways.

SeaWorld Orlando says its veterinary team is working to diagnose and treat her condition.

The calf is doing well and remains with its mother during treatment.

Rescue specialists said this helps keep their natural bond strong.

SeaWorld said it aims to stabilize the mother and rehabilitate both animals for a return to the wild.
