JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Morning fog is developing along the coast from SE Georgia through the Flagler County beaches, as well as inland areas of low visibility, will burn off around 9 a.m.
A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued through 9 a.m. for coastal Duval, Flagler, St. Johns, Nassau counties in northeast Florida, as well as Camden, Glynn, Brantley, and northern Charlton counties in southeast Georgia.
Gainesville tied a record high of 87 degrees yesterday and could see another record either tie or fall today, also 87 degrees.
Late afternoon showers are possible again on Friday as the afternoon heat and sea breeze converge over our western counties, but otherwise dry.
Extreme drought monitor
From the National Weather Service: Extreme drought has overspread all of southeast Georgia, northeast and north central Florida, per the latest drought monitor.
🔥Multiple hard freezes this winter have dried available fuels and are combining with worsening drought conditions to increase the wildfire risk throughout our region.
💧Light rainfall amounts are possible through the middle portion of next week, mainly at inland locations.
⛈️ Widespread beneficial rainfall will be possible later next week. During a drought,💧conserve water, 🔥practice fire prevention, and follow directions from local officials, especially if your county or municipality has been placed under a burn ban or water restrictions.
