Bishop John Noonan of the Diocese of Orlando announced his retirement after nearly 16 years of service. Noonan has led the diocese since December 2010 and previously served as an auxiliary bishop in Miami, beginning in 2005.He recently celebrated his 75th birthday on Feb. 26. Noonan said the appointment of his successor may take some time. In a letter, he explained that two other bishops who submitted their retirement letters last year in Miami are also awaiting replacements.”Pray for our Holy Father as he discerns who will be appointed the next bishop of the Diocese of Orlando,” Noonan said. “Do not ponder what the next bishop can do for you; rather, ponder how you can serve God and assist the bishop and all clergy in their ministry.”
