JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Manta Rays have advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association mascot championship, and the community has one final chance to help bring home the title.
After six rounds of online voting, the Manta Rays defeated the Lamar Runnin’ Lopes in the Final Four to earn a spot in the national championship matchup, the college said. The contest has been fueled by support from students, faculty, staff and voters across the Jacksonville community.
The championship vote opened Thursday at 1 p.m. and runs for 24 hours on the NJCAA’s social media pages.
Fans can vote through the NJCAA’s Instagram Stories by visiting the account, tapping through the story until they see the championship matchup graphic and selecting the FSCJ Manta Rays. Voting also is available on X, formerly Twitter, by clicking the pinned championship graphic and choosing the Manta Rays.
Votes from both platforms will be combined to determine the winner.
The college is encouraging the community to rally behind the Manta Rays and to follow FSCJ’s official social accounts for updates as final results come in, the college said.
