HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – A sixth-grade teacher at Little Miami Middle School is on a leave of absence amid an investigation, according to a district letter to parents and guardians obtained by FOX19 NOW.
A report from the Hamilton Township Police Department says two female students reported the teacher made contact with them using a yardstick.
Surveillance footage from the school’s hallway shows the teacher approaching one of the female students who was kneeling down at her locker, according to the police report.
The teacher, the report claims, waved the ruler and used it to tap the books on her lap.
The report says the teacher then meandered to the second female student who was standing at her locker.
The teacher used the ruler to tap that student on her lower backside, the police report describes.

Read the district’s letter below:
“This leave is part of our standard procedure while the school district investigates this matter involving the staff member,” reads the Oct. 14 letter from Mike Malone in the district’s Human Resource Office.
“Please understand that, in order to protect the privacy and rights of everyone involved, we are unable to share specific details at this time. However, I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority.”
Another instructor is handling his classes in the meantime to “ensure that learning continues without interruption,” the letter continues.
Hamilton Township Police said no crime was committed, and they are not investigating the incident further. FOX19 NOW is not identifying the teacher because no criminal charges were filed.
Parent Reacts
Kelly Spencer’s child attends the Little Miami Local School District.
He said he is upset because what the two students allege happened to them could have happened to his child.
Spencer further says he thinks the teacher should lose his job if the allegations are true.
“I would understand more, maybe a ruler saying, ‘Hey Brenda, hey Steve,’” Spencer said. “But on their buttocks, if that really happened, he should be fired.”
The district’s investigation remains ongoing.
