Cryptoys is now Digitoys

Today, the co-founder and CEO of  Cryptoys announced a new name – Digitoys – but the mission remains the same.

“As the company evolved and we began working with some of the world’s biggest brands, it became clear the name no longer reflected the full vision of what we’re building,” Will Weinraub said in a LinkedIn post. “Kids today don’t distinguish between physical and digital. They collect skins in Fortnite, build worlds in Roblox, trade cards on their phones, and unbox toys at the kitchen table. It’s all play to them. The lines between physical toys, collectibles, and gaming are disappearing, and the next generation of products will live across all of them.”

The number of partnerships and marketing activations this unlocks for the company is now exponentially higher, too, and Weinraub signaled that news on some of those are on the way.

“This is more than a rebrand. It reflects the future of play, and we’re incredibly excited to help build it.”

Nubank is all over Inter Miami’s new stadium

This week, Inter Miami and Lionel Messi announced that when they open their new home on April 4, the stadium will have a naming rights partner, The Athletic reported. Nubank, a digital bank that operates in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, reached a long-term naming rights agreement with the club.  The agreement comes at a time in which Nubank filed for, and received conditional approval for, a federal bank charter to operate in the U.S. as it looks to expand into the American market.

With 131 million customers in Latin America, Nubank was seen as an ideal partner for a club that has become a global brand thanks to the influence of Messi, its Argentinian star, Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas said. “Since we signed Leo Messi, since we really focused on taking Inter Miami global, we have entered into every single partnership and every single partnership category with elite brands, where we could add value,” Mas told The Athletic.

As part of the agreement, the stadium will be named Nu Stadium and  Nubank will also be Inter Miami’s back of jersey sponsor. Inter Miami’s pink shirts, buoyed by Messi’s enormous international appeal, have been one of the most sold jerseys in global soccer.  Read more here.

The billionaires (still) love Miami

The billionaire real estate news keeps flowing. The most recent newbie to the Miami area is  Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who just paid $51 million for the Allison Island home of LVMH CEO Michael Burke, the Re al Deal first reported. The deal marks yet another high-profile, waterfront lot purchase within ultra-exclusive communities, like Allison Island, Star Island and Indian Creek. Refresh Miami reported earlier this year that fellow co-founder Larry Page paid $173.4 million for two Coconut Grove waterfront estates.

And just a week ago, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan purchased a nearly completed mansion in Indian Creek Village for $170 million, according to a source familiar with the deal, as reported first by the Wall Street Journal. This was the highest home sale recorded in Miami-Dade County. Zuckerberg joins Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com, NFL legend Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and investor Carl Ichan among the wealthy residents of Indian Creek, also known as “Billionaire Bunker.” This also continues the influx of wealthy Californians moving to South Florida as the Golden State considers hiking taxes further on the wealthy.

Zuckerberg’s unfinished home has nine bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, four half-bathrooms, a fireplace, a dock, a bar, an elevator, and plenty of room for a pool and fountains. There’s also space for a gym, a theater room, a library and an aquarium. Read more in the South Florida Business Journal.

Not so techy, but interesting anyway

The Sports Performance Hub (SPH)  in South Dade has officially begun construction on its 92-acre sports and education campus. This privately funded $280 million project is set to transform South Dade into a global capital for athletic excellence, academic innovation, and community development, all at no cost to taxpayers. The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the former Homestead Sports Complex, gathered local officials, international sports figures, and civic leaders to mark what many consider a generational investment in the region’s youth and economic future.

The project is led by global athletes and entrepreneurs, including soccer legend Juan Sebastián Verón, Dario Sala, and Olympic gold medalist Pepe Sanchez. Co-Founders Gaston Remy, Emiliano Fernández Balagué, Riccardo Silva (majority owner of Miami FC), Nick Sakiewicz (longtime sports executive and real estate developer), NBA star Manu Ginobili, tennis pros Juan “Pico” Mónaco and Mariano Zabaleta, and NFL veteran Martin Gramatica.

The campus master plan includes elite Multi-Sport Academies offering Specialized training and expert coaching in soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball, and American football, as well as a boarding school, 10,000-seat stadium, sports medicine facilities, a hotel and other amenities. “By bringing together elite multi-sport training, education, and hospitality, we are building an ecosystem that supports the whole athlete and strengthens the local economy for generations to come,” said Nick Sakiewicz, CEO of Sports Performance Hub.
