The No. 19 Miami RedHawks made history on Friday night, finishing the 2025-26 regular season undefeated with a 110-108 win over the Ohio Bobcats in overtime.With a tense road victory over its conference rival, the RedHawks will enter postseason play at 31-0 and on the brink of their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007.Trailing by one with 12 seconds left in overtime, Miami’s Peter Suder sank two free throws to put Miami ahead 109-108. After a missed shot by Ohio on the other end, Miami’s Justin Kirby made one of two free throws before a missed three by Ohio’s Jackson Paveletzke missed the mark, securing Miami’s undefeated regular season.Eian Elmer scored 32 points for the RedHawks, Trey Perry had 21 points and Brant Byers had 15 points with seven rebounds.Paveletzke scored 37 for Ohio, Javan Simmons poured in 30 points and Aidan Hadaway scored 20. Miami used a hot first half offensively to take a six-point lead into halftime, with Elmer and Perry combining for 23 points through the first 20 minutes.The Bobcats trailed by double digits in the second half but battled back to tie the score at 100 with under a minute to play. The win completed Miami’s first undefeated regular season in school history. They also became the first MAC school to accomplish the feat.Prior to Miami, the last men’s college basketball team to finish the regular season undefeated was Gonzaga in 2020-21. Next up for the RedHawks will be the MAC Tournament in Cleveland, which runs from March 12-14. As the regular season champion, Miami will be the No. 1 seed in the field.
