The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a wind-driven fire that burned a Port St. Lucie home March 6.

The St. Lucie County Fire District responded 1:33 p.m. to a mobile home on South Alhambra Lane and found the home was engulfed in flames.

Winds exceeded 10 mph. The fire was wind-driven and already heavily involved when crews arrived, firefighters said.

One homeowner was treated on scene but declined transport to a local hospital, firefighters said. No other injuries were reported.

The Red Cross helped coordinate emergency aid to the homeowner displaced by the fire, said Red Cross spokesperson Traci Mitchell.

St. Lucie County has been placed under a burn ban since Feb. 9 following extreme drought conditions.

This ban applies to all non-permitted outdoor burning. Agricultural burning may be allowed only on a case-by-case basis as authorized by the Florida Forest Service.

“Although we’ve seen some rain, conditions remain very dry and the burn ban remains in place to help reduce the risk of fires across our community,” the St. Lucie County Fire District announced March 6.

During the burn ban, the following are prohibited:

Outdoor burning of any combustible material

Cooking fires unless exclusively on a contained gas or charcoal grill
