A Southwest Airlines flight that was heading to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday night had to be diverted to Georgia after a passenger disturbance, officials said.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Southwest Airlines Flight 2094 left Nashville and was going to South Florida when it had to land at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport following the disturbance.
Video posted on Only In Dade shows several passengers putting their hands up and lowering their heads as law enforcement entered the plane and pulled out one passenger.
Southwest Airlines provided the following statement:
“For background, the Customer in question was removed by the Atlanta police, in case you want to check with them for additional details. Customers were reaccommodated on another aircraft (same flight number, 2094) and continued on to Ft. Lauderdale, arriving just before 3:30 a.m. We have reached out to all of the Customers to apologize for the situation.”
The passenger’s identity was not released, and it’s not clear if they are facing charges.
NBC6 has reached out to FLL and Atlanta Police for more information.
